I’ve revisited what stands as my seminal 1984 series, Los Obreros,
a collection of eight large-scale canvases measuring 7 feet square. Initiated in 2025, this new body of work probes the perceptual relationship between scale and vitality, querying whether the suspended, chamber-like forms that populated the original series can retain their animating potential when reimagined in a markedly reduced format. By distilling the structure into smaller, more intimate paintings, I’m inviting a reevaluation of the interplay between size, perception, and the viewer's experience.
